The research unit comprises five subprojects involving a total of seven PIs. Two of these are collaborative projects jointly conducted at different universities, thereby reinforcing the interdisciplinary collaboration at the core of the research consortium. The five subprojects are complemented by a fellow project. Approaches from literary studies, art history, and cultural studies are enriched by questions and methodologies from media studies, cultural anthropology, and sociology. This disciplinary configuration supports the group's focus on artistic production and aesthetic modes of representation, which likewise provide the starting point for reconstructing the social and political imaginary.
